Directors Collette Corcoran and EmmalineTurley
are excited about Yoni-Yoga On the Bay
Yoni aims to provide the sanctuary to achieve the benefits of practicing Yoga and being part of a Yoga community, a place where like-minded people meet to practice a variety of Yoga classes; taught by Yogi’s who are passionate to promote all aspects of a Yogi lifestyle.
Yoni feels privileged to have a plethora of yoga teachers with a wealth of Yoga and holistic therapy knowledge, qualifications and experience. We are part of one large and ever increasing friendship group who have Yoga and the community at the focal point of our plans for Yoni.
Yoni offers a wide range of Yoga classes, aims to create a holistic social environment that will promote and provide health and well-being.
Ashtanga
Emmaline will lead this Ashtanga talk-through class that consists of most of the postures from Second Series, depending on the focus of the class that day. You will be assisted in achieving new poses and working deeper in the ones you already know. It is recommended that you have understanding of the Primary Series before entering this class.
LEVEL 2 & 3
Flow Yoga
Based on Sonia’s sound knowledge obtained from her degree in Ayurvedic studies; Seasonal Yoga derives from seasonal living rooted in the tradition of Chinese medicine. The practice changes throughout the year, concentrating on the relevant body parts for each season. Advice will be given on diet and general well- being in the form of regular handouts throughout each seasonal session. The Yoga is based on traditional poses linked by seasonal vinyasa or flow. The whole experience should leave you feeling well balanced.
LEVEL 1 2 3
Mysore
The Mysore style of yoga asana practice is a particular way of teaching yoga within the Ashtanga Yoga tradition as taught by Sri K. Pattabhi Jois in the southern Indian city of Mysore. The class is not "led" as a whole but rather instruction is one-on-one within the group class setting. Students practice their own portion of the Ashtanga sequence of asanas at their own pace, the teacher assists each student individually by giving physical adjustments and verbal instruction. It is advisable to have some knowledge of the standing postures of Ashtanga Yoga before coming to the early-morning classes. A flow sheet is permissible until the practice is memorised.
LEVELS 2 & 3
BOOKING REQUIRED
Beginner’s Ashtanga
Ashtanga Yoga is a vigorous face paced form of yoga that helps build flexibility, strength, concentration and stamina. When practicing Ashtanga a person moves quickly through a set of pre-determined poses, whilst remaining focused on deep breathing. Collette will lead this class will be based on the primary series, allowing students to master the primary postures. Breathing techniques and yoga nidra will also be studied.
LEVEL 1
Power Yoga
Power yoga was developed for those who see Yoga as a way to work out! Collette loves the vigorous, fitness-based approach to Vinyasa and Ashtanga style yoga, so delivers it with a zest for a fitness workout combined with a love for Yoga and the benefits and stamina the postures bring. Be prepared to sweat!
ALL LEVELS
Kundalini
Kundalini Yoga as taught by Yogi Bhajan is designed to increase selfawareness and heal with creative yoga poses that will challenge positively and relax body, mind and spirit. Kundalini yoga involves rhythmical movements between two or more postures, including breath work, focusing on a particular part of the body.
The use of Mantra adds depth to a given pose and helps to filter your thoughts adding a positive resolution. This creativity with yoga helps us to our goal of finding the peace to meditate and truly relax.
Beginner’s Sun Power Yoga
Sun Power Yoga is a unique blend of three different styles of yoga Dynamic Hatha yoga for alignment, Sivananda yoga for subtle mind and breath work, and Astanga vinyasa for heat, flexibility, and stamina.
Collette’s classes include relaxation and pranayama (breathing techinques). These help us to reduce stress, control emotions and still the mind. Asanas (poses) are included to improve strength, stamina, flexibility as well as massaging and stimulating the internal organs and systems of the body. The aim is to create both a healthy mind and a healthy body.
Beginner’s Dru Yoga
Designed to be practiced by people of all abilities, all fitness levels and all age groups, Dru is a style of yoga that can be quickly dipped into or learnt in more depth over a lifetime. Dru Yoga is a graceful and potent form of yoga, based on flowing movements, directed breathing and visualisation. With its foundations set firmly in ancient yogic tradition, Dru works on body, mind and spirit improving strength and flexibility, creating core stability, building a heightened feeling of positivity, and deeply relaxing and rejuvenating your whole being.
Acroyoga Fusion
AcroYoga Fusion blends the art of Yoga, Thai Massage/Reflexology, Partner Yoga and Therapeutic and Acrobatic 'Flying'.
Your AcroYoga Fusion class will start off with a AcroYoga Fusion Flow and then move onto Partner Yoga. Each week you will learn a little Thai Yoga/Reflexology Massage and a new Therapeutic Flying and Acrobatic Flying move. Over the weeks you will be able to put sequences together of each and bring these along to our informal AcroYoga Fusion get-togethers on Saturday mornings.
It is the perfect way to supplement your solo yoga practice. Learning the skills of trust and sensitive communication and returning your mind to a state of play and joy are the most common perks of a couple of hours of AcroYoga Fusion.
Pilates
Pilates is a physical fitness system developed in the early 20th century by Joseph Pilates.
Pilates called his method Contrology (from control) because he believed his method uses the mind to control the muscles. The program focuses on the core postural muscles which help keep the body balanced and which are essential to providing support for the spine.
Power Yoga for Sports
Luan teaches the system using extreme breath control and constant movement to generate heat, this form of yoga has been used with dramatic results on athletes and sports persons. It uses the body's own weight to build strength, coupled with extreme muscle control. This dynamic form, will give balance, strength and incredible flexibility. This class is for men and women with a good level of fitness, it is very beneficial for athletes and sports persons in preventing injury.
Weight-loss Yoga for all shapes and sizes
This is a class that will be especially for those who have weight issues and would feel self conscious in an average yoga class. The postures are adapted to allow ease of movement and promote weight loss.
The deep-breathing involved in yoga increase oxygen intake to all body cells; this in turn increases oxidation and burning of fat cells. Another direct benefit of yoga exercises is that, when combined with yoga breathing, weight-loss is made easier because as well as burning off energy the exercises also store energy that is ready to be burned instead of stored.
Mummy and Me Yoga
The class will start with a Mummy’s yoga salute to the sun and breathing exercises. The class then on to the yoga movements with your baby, movements vary from simply crossing baby’s arms across their chests to holding them upside down! Don’t worry! All the postures and movements are safe for your baby (and you), and your baby will absolutely love them! Baby yoga offers similar benefits as yoga for adults: improved sleep and relaxation, enhanced muscle tone and co-ordination, and deeper breathing which helps the immune system. Baby yoga cannot only alleviate the symptoms of colic; it can help to remove the problems that cause it. The yoga movements relieve any tensions the baby has in her intestines, and release trapped gasses.
Integral Yoga
An Integral Yoga Class emphasises gentleness while developing the art of relaxation and deeper awareness. The philosophy is 'less is more', so there is plenty of time to settle, go within, process and let go. Yoni's Integral Yoga Teacher Tony emphasises that 'if you can move your body one inch in any direction you can do yoga' Thus making this class suitable for everyone.
Pre-School Yoga
Toddler Yoga is taught through story telling and play incorporating simple Yoga postures, breathing techniques and getting your little one/s to sit still! (If only for a while!) Yoga enhances toddler flexibility, strength, coordination, and body awareness. In addition, concentration and sense of calmness and relaxation improves. By doing yoga, children’s exercise and play connect more deeply with the inner self, and develop an intimate relationship with the natural world that surrounds them.
Hatha Yoga
“Ha” means sun and “tha” means moon and Hatha yoga is about the union of opposites. Hatha yoga aims to harmonise body, mind and spirit. Karen’s class draws on the classical Hatha yoga postures, which help to build strength and stamina. She also focuses on the alignment of the body whilst adding an element of flow. Pranayama (breath work) and meditation are also key to the practice and help to bring balance to the breath and the mind. The class ends with a lovely relaxation.
LEVEL 1 & 2
Meditation
This weekly class lead by Carol Treasadern offers an opportunity to experiment with and experience the wonderful practice of meditation; a chance to embrace your practice seriously and at the same time have fun, try different meditation techniques and ask questions in a friendly environment. The class will start with a yoga philosophy/meditation topic with a hot drink followed by a guided meditation. This class is for everyone who has an interest in meditating. Whatever your outer experience, meditation is the opportunity to slow down and turn your attention to the wonders of the inner world and, through this, change for the better our experience of the outer world.
Pregnancy Yoga
A Mum to four girls Emmaline has hands on experience to teach Pregnancy Yoga! This class is suitable from 12 weeks to term and suitable for all, from complete beginners to practiced yoginis. Breathing and yoga postures are linked to ease mums-to-be through pregnancy and labour. Postures are taught to relieve pregnancy discomforts such as sciatica and heartburn. The class creates strength and flexibility, while encouraging the gentle opening of the pelvis with postures to birth your baby. Breathing practices are used to relax both body and mind throughout pregnancy and as a practice to lead you through your labour.

Kyle has been studying Yoga for the past year and a half and has a particular interest in AcroYoga, Astanga Yoga and teaching kids. His background, however, has been wrestling which he has been passionate about since about 8 years old. He is currently training with the XWA. Kyle became involved with Yoga after sustaining a neck injury after a particularly dangerous move gone wrong. He noticed after a few classes that he was maintaining the strength he had previously been training with weights to maintain and that there was an added bonus. The flexibility and skill that he had developed with a regular yoga practice was helping him to achieve more difficult wrestling moves. After almost 2 years of his own daily practice Kyle also sustains less injuries due to increased focus and flexibility that Yoga has given him. When Kyle discovered AcroYoga it was the perfect blend of the acrobatics of his wrestling and the benefits of his Yoga practice. He started training with the AcroYoga manual in 2010 and has since booked in for an AcroYoga Immersion in Barcelona.
